Brief Description of Duties

* Assigned individual projects, and team activities based on the delivery of engineering aspects. There will be the requirement to control costs/budget and resource assignments.
* Also undertaking detail design and development of new and existing products, including quality and production support, working closely with the sales and production to meet business objectives.
* The applicant must be capable of independent and team working and be able to manage projects to a deadline
* The role may require hands on development and testing tasks in addition to CAD design


Key Elements of Experience

* NPI in an Automotive industry or similar
* APQP / DFMEA
* Good technical background
* Previous Management / Supervisory experience a definite benefit
* Previous experience in either of the following would be a definite advantage; Metal presswork, pneumatics, hydraulics, fabrications


Education and Experience

* A good working knowledge of Catia V5 (2d and 3d assembly techniques) or Solidworks
* The ability to managed and individual and team assignments
* Ideally a Degree in mechanical engineering
* 5 years` experience as a design engineer with responsibility to manage projects
* Ideally a formal qualification in project management (would be seen as an advantage)
* Use of Apiori or like costing software would also be seen as an advantage as would the ability to you and understand FEA and SmarTeam software
* Experience in the design of plastic components or electronic design experience would be beneficial
* The ability to communicate well and deal directly with customers / suppliers is a necessity as well as a willingness to travel to support sales activities.
