This is a unique opportunity for a “Green” packaging specialist to join a global market leader in the field of sustainable and biodegradable packaging.

Futamura (UK), is part of a Japanese – owned business with a rich heritage, advanced technology and 6 divisions dedicated to next generation packaging and other products. The Wigton site has a long history of developing and manufacturing renewable and compostable packaging films, including NatureFlex™ and Cellophane™, for a variety of applications including food, confectionery, fresh produce, snacks, bakery, health and personal care etc.

A combination of packaging waste legislation, the “Blue Planet Effect” and Retailer and Consumer interest, on a global basis, is creating major growth opportunities for Futamura’s biodegradable films. This is a newly created position within the Marketing/NPD team, reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing. We are seeking a technical marketing specialist who will share a passion for educating potential customers, supporting and developing applications in the market, whilst acting as a conduit between marketing, NPD, production and sales functions internally. The role will involve significant travel both in the UK and overseas. Key responsibilities will include:

To investigate specific market application sectors, defining the requirements from existing or future product ranges to meet the needs of these sectors.
To drive the business growth platforms in close collaboration with the EMEA/ISC sales teams aimed at targeted markets & customers.
To support the Sales & Marketing Manager in the development and maintenance of a marketing strategy that protects existing business and develops new business
To highlight and identify customer needs and follow market trends within the sustainable packaging industry.
To help drive an end user (brand-focused) development programme in collaboration with the regional Futamura account managers and core marketing team.

Candidates must have a sound knowledge of flexible packaging applications, gained through experience of working with a polymer supplier, film-producer, convertor or possibly inks/coatings producer. Candidates may have a background in R&D, Marketing, Technical Sales/Service or Business Development. Experience in working closely with the European food and beverage and/or the health & personal care sectors, would be advantageous.
