My client, a legal services company is looking for a Database Administrator to work with IT and the business to manage its Database servers and Data, ensure its continuity, performance, security and backups across the estate.
The firm are the leading providers of legal and handling services to the UK general insurance sector. Currently they provide specialist services to 12 of the UK`s 20 largest motor insurers in areas such as counter fraud, costs, credit hire, defendant services, large and complex injury and recoveries.

Main Responsibilities:
Work with security manager to define database security policy
Implement and maintain database security systems in line with database security policy
Define database backup and recovery policy
Implement and maintain database backup systems in line with database backup and recovery policy
Ensure data stored within the database estate is compliant with company GDPR policies
Manage processes related to upgrading of database systems to newer versions
Monitor database performance, manage indexing strategies and where appropriate take measures to improve performance
Support database developers by advising on code improvements from a performance perspective
Define and enforce coding standards for database developers
Work with wider infrastructure team to manage capacity planning for database growth
Create and configure new databases in line with business requirements
Support scheduled database processes and ETL mechanisms
Create and maintain documentation relating to databases and database processes
Ensure good housekeeping of database objects and promote best practice use of source control
Ensure databases are correctly and efficiently licenced

Person specification
2 years in DBA role working with SQL Server
5 years working with SQL Server / other RDBMS
Strong knowledge of SQL Server 2005 to 2016
Strong T-SQL scripting
Experience managing backup solutions
Experience implementing database security
Experience installing / configuring SQL Server instances and upgrading / patching
Experience supporting ETL processes and SQL Server Integration Services
Knowledge of performance tuning techniques
