The Role
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will lead the manufacturing engineering team and support the assembly & production teams to achieve service and customer expectations. Responsibilities include:
* Delivery of engineering projects / changes / review of existing and new
* owning the continuous improvement agenda and sharing best practice
* acquisition of plant equipment, machinery and tooling
* ensuring successful delivery of rolling stock and systems projects
* maintain relationships between UK facility and overseas mother plant
* financial budgeting & forecasting of labour and consumables for all projects
* maintaining skills balance and succession planning to ensure right skills mix for future projects
* maintaining a proactive Health, Safety and Environmental culture
This role will involve significant travel to Japan sometimes on extended business trips.

The Person
As Manufacturing Engineering Manager, you will have experience in a professional manufacturing engineering role, involving multi-stakeholder products with significant safety critical content. You will also have:
* working knowledge of industrial engineering techniques and practices
* excellent leadership and coaching skills / ability to work across functions and at all levels
* good organisational skills / commitment to team working
* an understanding of health and safety requirements in a working environment
This role will involve significant travel to Japan sometimes on extended business trips.
