Data Science Manager

My client is looking to hire a Data Science Manager for their feature modeling team in NYC. In this role, you will be focussed on scaling the team that is responsible for their Engineering platform. This Engineering platform enables them to harness some of the world's most complex & challenging content, as they structure and integrate new datasets into a diverse ecosystem of syndicated financial and industry-specific data products.
In this role, you will help hire and enable a team of highly creative & motivated data scientists to further scale their efforts. Their role will be to utilise a variety of modeling techniques to generate financially-relevant predictions based on economic activity. You and your team will then feed this micro-economic trending data into their systematic investment management platform, which will be used by the traders to make strategic investment decisions.
Qualifications and Experience:
· 7+ years of experience in applied data analysis & prediction and people/product management (ideally from varying data domains)
· Demonstrably strong experience in data science modeling intuition and feature engineering
· Expertise in applying statistical techniques for time-series measurement/estimation and prediction
· Have the ability to spot potential flaws & fallacies in the applications
· Extensive knowledge of SQL and common data science toolkits: Python, R, Spark, Matlab
· Strong written & verbal communication and presentation skills
Nice to have's:
· PhD in CS, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics
· Have produced data-centric publications
· Relevant industry experience
