North Star recruit Credit Risk Officers, Managers and Advisers for FinTech firms through-out the EU.

We are recruiting for a well-established and growing FinTech (SaaS) firm in the heart of Edinburgh’s technology community. The business is led by a high profile Tech Entrepreneur. The firm is well-funded, has revenue and profit, it has UK, USA and overseas clients and is growing, resulting in this new career opportunity.

The purpose of the role is to provide analysis and evaluation in order to reduce credit risk and underwriting throughout the customer on-boarding process.

The Credit specialist will build financial models that predict risk exposure and produce performance reports for management and the customer to assess and manage regulatory and technological threats. The role will involve working with client executives and stakeholders, internal teams including the technical and data specialists, senior management and third party vendors.

Additionally, as the role develops, you will be involved with building governance frameworks, working with regulatory bodies, developing and improving reporting processes, master documentation and internal and external project delivery.

The opportunity is a rounded one with plenty of variety. To be a candidate you should offer

* experience of credit risk management and assessment tools for consumer and business lending; cards, overdrafts, secured and unsecured loans, consumer and business mortgages and ideally, non-traditional lending e.g. sub-prime.
* use of big data sets and credit data vendor platforms
* knowledge of lending regulations and law
* knowledge or exposure to the principles of Open Banking
* PSD2 principles
* fraud prevention
* debt recovery
* Face-to-face experience of working with senior client stakeholders (UK or USA regulated lending)
report writing with recommendations and insight
* Graduate calibre, ideally with a first degree in a business, commercial or technology subject
* Good Excel and CRM/ Database and presentation skills
* stable employment record

In return for your hard work, the firm offers –

* an upper-quartile basic salary (likely to be £35,000 – 50,000 depending on your knowledge and skill base)
* Bonus
* Shares / share options
* Continuous learning programme
* Pension
* Childcare vouchers
* Friday afternoon team get together and drinks (Beer O’clock)
* career path in a growing firm with a superb and disruptive offering!

It is unlikely that a candidate from branch banking will have the experience our client is looking for. It is most likely the successful hire will come from a data vendor, a centralised (regional or national) lending team or decision-making unit with a significant loan approval limit or similar.
