Head of Category - Home, Gifting and Clothing

This multi-product retailer is looking for a Category Manager within the home, furniture & gifting ranges. This business is well known within their market and offers a true omni-channel experience.

In this leadership role though the head office is based in Ipswich you have the opportunity to have flexible working. So whether that is in head office, branch or home working you will still be able to be considered for this appointment.

Key responsibilities of this Head of Category position include -

* To deliver on the sourcing, selection and development of product range
* Can source products for the Far East, Asia, Europe and the UK.
* Negotiation of terms with suppliers and managing your product margins
* Lead & Develops of team members include Assistant Buyer & Merchandiser
* Develop the department strategy in partnership with stakeholders
* Being reactive to trading decisions
* Working alongside all teams within Marketing, Supply Chain & Store Operations.
* Improving the profitability of the department and the wider business

To be successful in this Buying position you must have -

* A commercially minded buyer with an understanding & exposure of merchandising and the ability to take responsibility for overseeing the complete trading decisions of the category.
* You must have gained experience in categories within DIY, Home, Furniture. Gifting, Department store or Garden centre environment.
* Ability to challenge and think differently to seize opportunities or solve problems
* Have a track record of putting together innovative and commercial viable ranges.
* It's important to keep up to date with market trends, reacting to changes in demand and that you show innovation for a product development and buying strategy.
* An understanding of visual merchandising is desirable and the ability to translate the head office strategy in the delivery of the vision on the shop floor.
