My client is a British newspaper, magazine and digital publisher and they are looking for a confident Lead UX Designer who has an appetite to work within a small agency style team, on a mixture of rapid ?business as usual` projects and meatier tactical and strategic projects across a range of digital channels. Nice to haves: Service Design, UX Design, Agile, Mobile or Tablet.
They are one of Britain`s biggest newspaper groups, publishing 240 regional papers across the UK
The newspaper have big ambitions. Their National and Regional digital publications already reach an enormous audience, but they want be much bigger, and do much better!
They are aiming to change the way that their 10 million monthly online users experience their digital products, and revolutionise the world of online news in the process.

So what type of person are we looking for?

You love working mobile first, but also understand desktop and other platforms
You get a buzz out of working quickly, getting things live, and seeing how they perform
You are a strong conceptual thinker and can develop UX strategy
You have an interest in online news, how it`s presented, and what it could be
You have an interest in getting under the skin of our users, both internal and external, and think that users are the most important people to satisfy
You thrive on interpreting user research, and challenging it if you don`t think it`s robust
You are happy working autonomously when needed and really enjoy working collaboratively with Design and Development team members
You have a passionate interest in what`s going on out there in the world of User Experience, and keeping abreast of industry trends
You relish the opportunity to innovate and help us evolve one of the UK`s largest news and content providers
You are passionate about creating elegant, simple interactions

Responsibilities
You will:

Mindful of stakeholder needs, both user and business
Create highly engaging and intuitive user interfaces
Be able to challenge and critique briefs and UI visual designs
Always strive for a creative or innovative solution when possible
Be able to rationalise your solutions to the project team
Work directly with the development team
Keep an eye out for opportunities for potential new projects or enhancements and bring them to the team
Have incredible attention to detail
Run UX and strategy workshops when needed
Bring stakeholders and product teams along with you as you work
Be a brilliant communicator face-to-face and in presentations
Mentor and develop more junior UX staff
Advocate UX practice across product and development teams and throughout the company

Requirements, qualifications and experience

You will most likely have 5 years industry experience, agency side or client-side
You will have a solid background in UCD or similar.
