Financial Controller

You will be working closely with and be the main point of contact for all major key stakeholders in the business including the MD and Group CFO.

Key Responsibilities will include;

* Business Partnering key stakeholders through local business management boards and ad hoc requests from business line MD and CFO.
* Review business performance of the business line by understanding the balance sheet and P&L performance and providing insightful commentary.
* Operate strong controls over the balance sheet by ensuring all line items are understood, with reconciliations completed and reviewed on a timely and accurate basis and in line with the month end timetable. Manage and escalate as appropriate any financial control breaks that emerge from the balance sheet controls process to the Group Financial Controller.
* Review of daily, monthly and ad hoc MI reports, providing commentary as necessary.
* Ensuring payments for new business drawdowns are processed timely and accurately.
* Maintain strong controls over payments into the business to ensure direct debits are managed in accordance with BACS rules and other cash receipts are matched and processed on a timely basis.
* Work with Operations teams as appropriate on processes that impact financial control and financial reporting.
* Liaise with Risk and Compliance to ensure matters affecting credit/impairment or compliance matters that may affect financial reporting are understood.
* Ensure accounting is performed in line with the agreed documented processes and procedures aligned to IFRS.

* Lending systems experience an advantage
* Strong leadership/management capabilities
* Strong excel skills
* Ideally a numerate degree
* Strong team player
* Ideally an understanding of IFRS in a banking and capital markets environment in the UK
