My client is a new well-funded start-up company that has decided to make a difference in this world by designing information products for children suffering from diabetes and they are looking for a Data Scientist to join them on this fantastic rewarding journey.

We are looking for a Data Scientists to work across several business areas and you will be part of a highly innovative team working on interesting and difficult problems, leveraging cutting edge technology to build solutions and customer facing products. Your work will have a direct impact on shaping the future of the business and will help shape key business decisions and activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong quantitative or technical background with experience working with large datasets and solving tough problems. You will be a highly intelligent self-starter, with excellent communication skills, a bias towards action and attention to detail.

The Role

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Analyse large, complex datasets to reveal underlying patterns, correlations and trends.

Assist with the implementation and scale-up of algorithms for bespoke recommendation engines.

Investigate performance of current recommendation products and translate insights into specific improvement suggestions / new feature proposals.

Drive development of machine learning techniques to model customer behaviour and preferences.

Create prototypes for new personalisation features and turn machine-learning outputs into operational data products.

Set up and conduct large-scale experiments to test hypotheses and drive product development.

Research and leverage new machine learning methodologies to improve current products and influence the future roadmap.

Use historic data to forecast key trends and predict events of interest.

Leverage quantitative techniques to answer non-routine business problems.

Requirements

Solid experience in solving large analytical problems using statistical, machine learning or other quantitative methods.

Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar quantitative discipline. Advanced degrees preferred.

Equally comfortable with implementing algorithms as well as performing ad-hoc analysis and deriving insights.

Solid programming skills (e.g. R, Python, C , C#, Java), and fluency in SQL.

Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing (Hadoop, Spark, Mahout, NoSQL, Hive, Pig) or the ability to learn th
