Location: London, NW9 6TD
Position: Permanent, Full Time
Salary: GBP 50,000 - GBP 55,000 /year
The Quantity Surveyor oversees costs, value and reducing financial risks for construction projects. They will create valuations of works at regular intervals and apply for payment.
A Quantity Surveyor can expect to work regular working hours with occasional travel to various sites, maintaining a steady schedule. These jobs range from residential projects to large scale infrastructure jobs such as deep drainage and multi utility packages.
Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor
While duties may vary depending on the size of a project, the Quantity Surveyor can expect their day to day responsibilities to include:
* Communicating with Clients: Determining client`s needs and develop plans based on those needs.
* Calculating Costs: To remain in budget, considering the costs of materials, time, and labour. Assessing where there is the need to cut costs.
* Creating Reports: Creating documentation that tracks the financial costs and revenue for a project.
* Assigning Work Schedules: Developing work schedules to ensure a project stays on track.
* Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and establishing plans to reduce risks.
* Adhere to Legal Matters: Understanding the basic requirements of the contract and follow the Line Managers advice on other contractual items.
The Quantity Surveyor will also be involved in;
* Sub-contract management, procurement and negotiation.
* Valuations and supervision of sub-contracts.
* Management of projects to final accounts stage.
* Reporting to management.
* Management of client variation records and supervision of variation process.
The ideal candidate for the Quantity Surveyor role would;
* Have a desire to continuously progress and develop professionally to reach their potential.
* Have a passion for people and processes.
* Be able to deal in small daily matters, as well as larger aims and setting goals.
* Adopt a systematic and organised approach to work.
* Be proficient in Excel to build financial projections, charts and reports in a timely fashion.
* Previous experience in Groundworks and Civil Engineering.
* Quantity Surveying related Degree
