Product Manager, User Journeys (Media/News) - London

GBP 60 to GBP 65k basic

My client, UK`s largest news publisher s looking for a Product Manager to join their User Journeys team and help build best-in-class user experiences that attract, engage and retain users across their portfolio of award-winning digital news titles. This is a wide-ranging role that involves working with third-party suppliers and platforms as well as developing new features for products hosted on our systems.

This news publisher, has an award-winning digital portfolio comprising more than 50 titles and reach over 150m monthly unique users and they are constantly expanding their digital portfolio, adopting new technologies and evolving their products to meet changing user needs.

The role reports to the Head of Product. The product development team is based in the City of London, near Monument Tube station, but the role may also involve some travel to our regional offices.

Principal responsibilities

The Product Manager in User Journeys is responsible for features that build user loyalty, including web alerts, email newsletters, registration and commenting, and for publication of their content to third-party platforms such Facebook Instant Articles and Apple News. They work with third-party platforms and suppliers to understand what is possible and determine how best to integrate their content. Their goals are to bring users back to their owned-and-operated digital products and/or generate off-platform revenue.

Required key skills (functional/technical)

Business acumen, including the ability to recommend a course of action

Communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners and suppliers

Investigates new opportunities with partners and platforms to assess potential benefits

Uses qualitative and quantitative input from user research, multivariate testing and analysis of customer actions to inform product development

Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to analyse and optimise user journeys and estimate the potential value of new initiatives

Keen to experiment and make use of agile and lean methodology in a self-organising team

Committed to measuring product performance to evaluate how well the product is serving the purpose it was made for, solving the right problems for users and creating business value

Required qualifications/experience

Degree-level education or equivalent experience

1-3 years in product management, ideally including roles in media companies

Experience with agile working practices

Experience in multi-stakeholder environments would be an advantage
