UK Technical Manager - Flexible Films

Coveris is a leading European high-performance packaging producer offering film, flexible packaging, labels and board solutions to a diverse customer base, with a focus on product innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence. The UK Flexibles business operates across 2 sites, offering high quality laminated and flexo printed packaging, utilising a variety of materials, for customers in the produce, meat, fish, poultry, bakery, confectionery and frozen food sectors.

The UK Flexibles Technical Manager, a newly created role, will be based at Gainsborough, and support a second site in Burnley, responsible for delivering the UK Flexibles Technical strategy, ensuring the technical capability, business contribution and commercial acumen of the function is improved.

Reporting to the UK Flexibles Managing Director, this varied role will technically influence, enhance and support customers and suppliers, and internal departments including purchasing, to ensure the supply of film consistent with specification, to improve the performance of existing products, and the introduction of commercially viable, added value new products, particularly focusing on sustainability and recyclability.

Through a team of c10 people across Food Science (Laboratory), Packaging Technology and Innovation, the Technical Manager will ensure early engagement with customers on development projects, develop value propositions for both new and existing product developments, and provide the leadership and knowledge to deliver outstanding products. He/she will also provide a commercially viable technical support role to customers to advise on product performance, whilst identifying opportunities for product development.

Ideally degree qualified in a Polymer, Materials Science or Chemistry discipline, candidates must have a sound technical knowledge of flexible film materials, their processing and applications.

With demonstrable strategic and hands on technical skills, key to your success will be strong commercial and financial acumen, and a focus on continuous improvement, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
