Director of Operations & Finance

You will be joining a privately-owned organisation that enjoys an enviable reputation in a newly created role of Director of Finance and Operations as part of the Senior Leadership Team based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. You will have operated extensively outside the traditional FD role, and can demonstrate added value across the general management piece. The owner MD is looking for succession into a CEO role – you will be tenacious, ambitious and demonstrate the capability to compete for this role over time.

Your remit will be to ensure the organisation understands its financial position fully and advise the leadership team on the development of business plans and individual growth strategies. As well as running the Finance Function you will lead their Operations and IT Functions – you will enjoy a broad and varied role and demonstrate the capability to juggle these different priorities.

You will have a proven track record of delivering a commercially focused finance function in a broader role – it is key that this role engages with the leadership team and the rest of the business to ensure the budget position is accurately reported, risks are understood and mitigated, and that the business feel confident and comfortable in approaching you for guidance.

Key areas of focus:

Development of robust reporting procedures that deliver the headlines, and necessary detail where required.
Ensure that the finance function is embedded fully throughout the organisation and consulted in decision making and strategy development.
Utilising your team you will ensure pertinent and timely delivery of MI to support decision making.
Creation of a robust pricing strategy, reviewing and advising on specific contractual terms including debtor management, manage and reduce budgets and control of costs.
Lead the operations function to meet and exceed customer expectation
Ensure IT infrastructure is fit for purpose, secure and future proof.
