Securities Charging Manager

REED Legal are partnering with a housing association in West Berkshire to recruit for a Securities Charging Manager to join them on a full time basis.
This is a permanent opportunity and is based in Newbury, moving to Basingstoke in the spring 2020.
As a qualified lawyer, you'll manage and take responsibility for the security charging process, maximising the use of the security across the debt portfolio, ensuring properties are charged with agreed timescales and overseeing the reconciliation of the security held in charge with our Banking group and Security Trustee.
You'll ensure sufficient properties are available for charge, requesting outsourced assistance from appointed panel solicitors as required and managing this relationship. Further to this, you'll continually review our existing properties to ensure accurate valuations and improve the security of assets already held for charge.
You'll also focus on improving the loan value of the association's assets - for example guiding the Development team with regard to appropriate section 106 Agreement mortgagee exclusion clauses that lenders find acceptable in connection with acquisitions. You'll need a keen eye for detail to effectively review complex legal documentation.
You'll need to have strong stakeholder management experience as you'll be building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders such as the Land Registry and Local Authorities. You will line manage the Security Charging Advisor, who will provide support across all areas.
You should hold previous experience in a similar role with excellent understanding of the securities charging process.
