Full Stack Software Engineer - London

GBP 65 - GBP 68k flexi/remote working

My client, an award-winning Media House is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join a small, agile development team that supports our editorial titles by undertaking quick, tactical changes to their publishing systems and digital products.

My client strongly believes in the benefits of flexible working, some remote working and autonomy in their day to day jobs.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join their User Journeys team with a mission is `Acquire new users, build relationships with them and develop loyalty`.

Acquisition of users through search and social optimisation
Features that encourage users to engage and move around our products
Features that increase loyalty, such as email newsletters, registration, commenting and competitions
Tracking and understanding user journeys across multiple visits, from discovery to loyalty
Optimising the promotion of features that drive engagement and loyalty

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this position will be a generalist, with an interest in working across the full stack.

You will have experience working collaboratively within a web development team with a non-hierarchical structure, be self-directed and happy to work on your own initiative.

Some other things that we would like in a candidate (you don`t have to check all to apply!)

Experience with frontend technologies - HTML, CSS and preprocessors, templating, client-side JavaScript (including frameworks)
Development experience (we use mainly use NodeJs and Javascript)
Familiarity with Database (we use mainly DynamoDB, PostgreSQL and MySQL)
Familiarity with automated testing at different parts of the test pyramid
An understanding of HTTP, caching and how the web works
Optimising performance to scale to handle large quantities of content data and high volumes of traffic across numerous websites
Can-do, positive attitude, proactive approach to problem solving
Java experience would be a plus
