They have wide ranging cross sector experience and comply with British and International standards and are now on the lookout for a suitably qualified and experienced Fire Protection Engineer to join their team.

The Role:

The role Fire Protection Engineer not only involves design, tendering and commissioning of new systems but also the inspection of existing systems and reporting on their performance and adequacy. Therefore, experience in report writing is required.

* Correspondence, liaison, reporting, etc. with other staff and Clients, as required
* Dealing with enquiries internal and external by telephone, email or personally in an efficient and professional manner
* Attend Client meetings, site surveys, committees as required.
* Provide cover during the absence of other team members, as required.
* Maintain accurate time recording on a timely basis including comprehensive records of CPD and training activities (both internal and external, formal and informal including such as shadowing and on-the-job training)
* Willingness to work in a team environment to cross cover for other Engineering work within the team.
* Other activities as required by Senior Management within the ethos of the company.
* Although the role is office based, the role involves predominantly UK wide travel for site surveys and meetings and some occasional international travel. The candidate should be comfortable working on their own projects with limited supervision.


QUALIFICATIONS:

* Ideally the candidate should hold an engineering degree (preferably mechanical or fire related) and should have LPCB basic, intermediate and FHC qualifications for sprinkler system design - or equivalent work-based experience.
* They should be keen on further training and development in their relevant professional institution.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

* Extensive experience in sprinkler system design and design review from small residential systems through to commercial and industrial systems.
* Fully conversant with the current fire protection standards including, BS EN 12845, BS9251, BS 8458, BS 8489.
* Experience in Report Writing.


BENEFICIAL SKILLS:

* Experience in water mist systems and gas suppression.
* Understanding of NFPA / FM Global guidelines. AutoCAD experience and familiar with full hydraulic calculations, preferably CANU
