Salary: GBP 40k-GBP 50k (Depends on Experience)

My Client is a leading timber processor in Ireland and UK with a strong growth story. As a leader in the Green Tech industry, they are a growing, dynamic and innovative organisation with ambitious growth plans. Turnover has more than doubled since 2009 and they supply both the Irish and UK markets with products for the construction, pallet wood and fencing industries. They also manufacture timber frame homes and engineered roof trusses for the house building sector. They have over 500 employees with plants in Troon and Edinburgh in the UK, and Longford, Fermoy and Arklow in Ireland.

Over the past four years they invested over :30 million across the Group including value added processing in Fermoy and a state-of-the-art combined heat and power (CHP) plant in Troon.

The Role

As the company prepares for continued growth and investment in the UK, they are now seeking to appoint a CHP Manager at their facility in Troon. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge and experience as CHP Manager with a proven track record in biomass and energy production. CHP Manager will be responsible for all Production, Maintenance and Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) for their CHP plant in Troon. The Troon site is an integrated site with the CHP plant responsible for processing the Sawmill Co-products and generating thermal and electrical energy for the Sawmill plus the sale of energy products to 3rd parties.

Role Responsibilities:

* Responsible for ensuring CHP unit is operational, serviced on time and achieves annual run hours
* Responsible for ensuring all Biomass Boilers are operational and serviced on time and achieve annual run hours
* Ensure that all Health and Safety procedures and policies on site are adhered to, creating a safe working environment
* Loading and processing of Wood product materials on site
* Maintain a proactive maintenance schedule for the CHP plant.
* Maintain a clean and presentable working site compliant with the relevant legislations including required accreditations (e.g. BSL)
* Manage key clients and contracting suppliers for the Biomas plant.
* Identify and produce plan for possible diversification and expansion opportunities for the business.
* Produce monthly reports covering operational activity, PandL, HandS, maintenance works, plant run hours.
* Liaise with key stakeholders internally: Finance function, sawmill and maintenance management teams and externally with Ofgem.
* Drive efficiencies at all levels in the CHP Plant, through short/medium term projects.
* Drive standardisation of approaches, practices and reporting across the plant through a culture of continuous improvement.
* Lead and manage a team of CHP operators and support staff working a 24/7 shift pattern.
