Flood Risk Engineer

Our client is a leading Plc international multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy, providing sustainable solutions to meet the planning, engineering design and project delivery needs of the property, infrastructure, energy, and environmental markets.

They have a vacancy for an experienced flood risk engineer in their London head office. The core role is to produce FRAs and provide professional advice for development projects in accordance with industry best practice and latest planning policy guidance, including sustainable drainage strategies for planning. They also provide due diligence flood risk advice to landowners and carry out flood studies and flooding investigations in the public sector.

All successful candidates will be provided with on-the-job training and exposure to an interesting mix of projects through from concept stage to construction. Experience will be gained in flood risk, hydrology, drainage and infrastructure using the latest software design tools to develop well rounded professionals.

Qualifications and Key Skills:

* Qualifications - Candidates should be degree qualified ideally in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Experience - The successful candidate is likely to have at least 2 years` experience preparing FRAs and drainage strategies for public and private sector clients and be working towards a relevant professional qualification.


Key Skills:

* Recognising and communicating flooding and drainage related constraints and opportunities for development sites
* Producing a wide range of FRAs and drainage strategies using MicroDrainage / InfoDrainage
* Good knowledge of the planning system, in particular policy and guidance including the NPPF and SuDS Manual
* Understanding of hydrological and hydraulic modelling principles, ideally with some experience with Tuflow, Flood Modeller and FEH
* Good project management and communication skills, ideally in a client facing role
* Writing clear and concise reports
* Awareness of financial control
* Self motivation
